Andrew Bolton (57), chief curator of the Costume Institute, describes the exhibition as “an ode to nature and the emotional poetics of fashion.” This year the exhibition refers to nature and the need for sustainability in fashion. In this sense, the concept consists of three zones: land, sea and sky. Each zone symbolizes the material from which the garments are made.
What is the theme of the Met Gala 2024?
In keeping with the fairytale-like, poetic and nature-themed title of the exhibition, Met Gala guests will dress to the theme of “The Garden of Time,” inspired by JG Ballard’s science fiction short story of the same name Year 1962 is inspired. How might guests interpret the Met Gala 2024 theme?
Given the obvious references to the beauty and fragility of nature, as well as “Sleeping Beauty,” this year’s red carpet looks are expected to include plenty of floral motifs. On the other hand, there could also be looks that are more on the dark spectrum. In stark contrast, following Ballard’s story, some guests could also devote their fashion creations to the feeling of transience and present unusual ideas.
Who will host the Met Gala 2024?
