The first love is one of the Netflix series which captivates viewers with its mix of drama and romance set in Japan. The story focuses on a young couple whose teenage love begins to lose its shine as they enter their adulthood.

The streaming platform’s miniseries won the love of lovers of Asian culture and k-dramas for its captivating development throughout its eight chapters. Their story will move more than one because of the adult problems that the couple suffers in the face of the constant advance of time and routine.

What is “First Love”, a Japanese Netflix series, about?

The Netflix series inspired its story in two songs by the iconic Japanese pop singer, Hikaru Utada. The songs selected were “First Love” from 1999 and “Hatsujoy” which was released 19 years later. For this reason, the narrative follows a couple that travels through their memories of a first love over 20 years. The production is set with transitions from the late 90’s, the 2000’s and the present.

The protagonists will mature with the passage of time and they will try to remember what made their love keep them together for more than two decades. The couple is made up of Yar Noguchi, a stewardess who begins to think that her destiny is opposed to her dreams, while an accident prevents her from accessing the profession that she always longed for. The courtship is complemented by Harumichi Namiki, a Self-Defense Forces pilot whose job requires him to take another direction.

Cast of “First Love”, Japanese Netflix series

The production of the streaming platform is developed around Yar Noguchi and Harumichi Namiki. This couple is played by Hikari Mitsushima and Takeru Satoh.

But time also plays a crucial role in the story, and so Rikako Yagi and Taisei Kido are incorporated into the young versions of the couple. While the cast is complemented by Tsunemi, Minami and Akiyoshi Nakao.
