Some of the “Lord of the Rings” companions met for a happy reunion. Can one elf keep up with four hobbits?
It’s been almost a quarter of a century since a motley group of heroes set off for Mordor in the first “Lord of the Rings” part. The four Hobbit actors Elijah Wood (43, Frodo), Sean Astin (53, Sam), Billy Boyd (55, Pippin) and Dominic Monaghan (47, Merry) have remained companions ever since – they repeatedly post on social media Pictures of evenings together, mostly with beer. It all started three days ago on Monaghan’s official Instagram account: He poses with Wood, Boyd and Legolas actor Orlando Bloom (47) in the snapshot, which was clearly taken many years ago. He announced that they would meet again at Comic Con in Liverpool this weekend.
The five friends
has now also been uploaded and has the appropriate title “Three Hobbits and an Elf”. The four of them smile into the camera together, each of them is holding a schnapps in their hand and the empty glasses on the table suggest that they had a great time. In the comments section, Lady Arwen herself celebrated the nostalgic meeting: “Oh, that’s really too much,” wrote actress Liv Tyler (46).
It is not documented whether the friendly moment was recorded by Sean Astin. In any case, he himself is missing from the photo, but appears, which Monaghan also posted shortly afterwards. In the first photo, the five of them are posing on the street, the second was apparently taken in another restaurant and shows them sitting at a round table. How appropriate: As is well known, hobbits like to squeeze in additional meals between breakfast, lunch and dinner.
