What critics say about Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

Some critics have already seen the long-awaited film and turned to their networks to share their points of view. IndieWire’s David Ehrlich described the film as “really, really fucking good”. He wrote how it “operates in an extremely different gear than Fury Road (in ways that I suspect will frustrate some people), but also manages to make the film even richer while carving out its own legend in the Wasteland.”

Meanwhile, Therese Lacson of Collider wrote: “I could easily watch 15 hours of Anya Taylor-Joy and Alyla Browne as Furiosahowever, much of his film struggles with inconsistent pacing due to the segmented story.”

He continued: “This won’t live up to the splendor of Fury Road, but it doesn’t need to.”

Erik Davis of Fandango described the film as “A fierce, relentlessly paced epic that expands the story of Furiosa and Wasteland while offering the craziest chases, the most bombastic characters and simply stunning cinematography.”

He continued: “Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth dive equally into Wasteland and both deliver incredible things. There’s a War Rig sequence that blew me away: an instant classic. I love the Mad Max movies and I loved this movie. Start your engines!”

Comparing the film to its prequel, Davis continued: “They are different experiences: both very entertaining, both do things that the other does not do. I love you both; The first thing I wanted to do after watching Furiosa was watch Fury Road. It will be a great double feature.”

Simon Thompson of Forbes praised the film’s cinematic effect, writing: “Furiosa envelops you. At times it almost seems to exceed the canvas of the IMAX format: it is SO big and yet at times it has a deeply moving intimacy.”

He continued: “Echoing cinematic elements from the 1950s to the 1980s, It’s a rich, intelligent vision that the cast delights in.”.
