Heinz Hoenig, who was taken out of an induced coma, remains in the hospital and appears combative. He “will come back no matter what.”
Heinz Hoenig (72) is seriously ill. After he was taken out of an induced coma, he had to undergo another operation. The German film star, known, among other things, for “Das Boot”, is grateful for the outpouring of sympathy and says that he would like to come back.
Fundraising campaign for Heinz Hoenig totals more than 126,000 euros
For him and his wife, Annika Kärsten-Hoenig (39), the sympathy was “overwhelming”. Even people who are not doing well financially are willing to help the 72-year-old. A fundraising campaign launched by Ralph Siegel’s (78) agency “Siegelring” for Hoenig, who does not have health insurance, has now reached an amount of more than 126,000 euros. The donation goal is currently 150,000 euros. This is intended, among other things, to cover costs for upcoming procedures and the recovery process.
At the weekend, Kärsten-Hoenig reported that a bacterial infection had damaged a stent on her heart that was inserted in 2012. He also needed a new aorta and a hole in his esophagus was also discovered. “Although the stent was inserted successfully, there are still further important treatment steps to be taken,” says an update on the donation page. “Heinz needs surgery both because of his inflamed aorta and because a hole was recently discovered in his esophagus. These complicated procedures would be followed by postoperative care and rehabilitation.”
“Order to the people out there, I’ll be back”
“I also told him how many people […] “Write me loving messages that they all believe in him, that they pray for him, that they light candles in the evenings, yes, that they have such great, loving words for him,” Kärsten-Hoenig now tells the station. Her husband is planning to Cried with joy and said: “Tell the people out there, I’ll be back, no matter what, I’ll be back.” All of this also makes them “keep believing in the good in people.”
Previously, after being woken up from an induced coma, Hoenig was informed by doctors about his health condition. The 72-year-old “clearly decided on the surgical route yesterday! Anything else is out of the question for him.” He later told her: “Annika, we only have this one chance. And we will use this one chance. Trust me, everything will be fine.”
