A serious incident occurred in front of Drake’s (37) villa in Toronto. Shots were fired around 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday night, among other things. A man who worked as a security guard for the musician was wounded in the shooting, police said. He was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound and is in serious condition.
Suspect not yet caught after shooting
A Toronto police inspector told a news conference that the incident, which occurred outside the gates of the property, was captured on video. The suspects, for whom no description has been released, fled in a car and are therefore still at large.
Drake himself was not directly involved in the incident. It is unclear whether the rapper was in the villa during the shooting. The authorities are therefore in contact with Drake’s team. “I can’t speak to a motive at this point because it’s so early, but as we receive information we will share it with you,” the inspector said.
It is unclear whether a recent heated exchange between Drake and Kendrick Lamar (36) could be partly responsible for the shots. The two hip-hop stars recently insulted each other in diss tracks. There are currently no clear indications that the incident could have anything to do with this. According to the report, representatives for Lamar did not immediately respond to a request and a representative for Drake declined to comment.
