“It is with enormous sadness and a heavy heart broken into a million pieces that I leave this post to announce the passing of my beloved husband and life partner Ian Gelder. “Ian was diagnosed with bile duct cancer in December and passed away yesterday at 1:07 p.m.,” Daniels said on her Instagram account where she shared a photo of them both at Christmas.

“None of us had any idea that everything would happen so quickly,” she remarked, writing: “He was my absolute rock and we had been partners for over 30 years. If we weren’t together, we talked to each other every day. He was the kindest, most generous and loving human being. He was a wonderful actor and everyone who worked with him was touched by his heart and his light.”

“Honestly, I don’t know what I’ll do without him by my side. He dealt with his terrible illness so bravely, without self-pity. Never. He was extraordinary and will be missed,” Ben expressed.
Regarding the photo he shared with the actor, he said that it was taken on Christmas after he spent three weeks hospitalized in a hospital. “Rest in peace my sweet Chianni,” he concluded in his farewell letter.
