British royal family: Prince Harry celebrates the anniversary of the Invictus Games in London

Both King Charles III. and his younger son Prince Harry, who now lives in the USA, mingled with the people in London on Wednesday. But the two didn’t find time to meet.

Britain’s Prince Harry celebrated the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games on Wednesday. The 39-year-old arrived at St. Paul’s Cathedral in the City of London for a thanksgiving service that evening to the applause of onlookers.

Harry, who once took part in his country’s military mission in Afghanistan, founded the Invictus Games in 2014 as a sports competition for war-disabled soldiers. The international games that were held in Düsseldorf last year are considered Harry’s most important charity project, who broke away from the inner circle of the British royal family a good four years ago and subsequently had to give up his military ranks.

His father King Charles III. (75), Queen Camilla (76) and other royals meanwhile welcomed people from the civil service, the military and civil society to a garden party in the park of Buckingham Palace. The parties are part of the royal family’s traditional summer program. Given King Charles’ cancer, it was unclear for a long time whether he would be able to take part this year. At the end of April, however, the palace announced that the therapy was showing positive results and that the king could at least partially attend public appointments again.

A meeting between Charles and his younger son was not on the agenda during Harry’s stay in Britain. Those close to Harry said that this was not possible due to the king’s “full program”. The relationship between father and son has been tense since Harry went public with numerous – some very personal – allegations against his family and the palace.
