Royals: Child misses Charles’ party – palace invites again

A blessing in disguise for Tony: The nine-year-old canceled King Charles III’s garden party due to external influences. lost. The king then issued another invitation.

It’s not every day that you get invited to a garden party by King Charles. Nine-year-old Tony Hudgell has now received this honor twice.

The boy, whose legs were amputated as a baby due to abuse by his biological parents, was actually expected in the garden of Buckingham Palace. But nothing came of it: he and his adoptive mother got stuck in a traffic jam.

A photo on X (formerly Twitter) showed him sitting in the car wearing sunglasses. His mother wrote: “Stuck on the M20 for two hours and won’t make it to the King’s garden party in time.”

Adoptive mother is relieved

A few hours later, also on ? Leave it to us.”

Tony’s mum thanked him for the “wonderful response” and added: “We were all so disappointed and devastated tonight.” Now everyone is relieved and Tony will go to bed much happier.

The parties are part of the royal family’s traditional summer program. This honors people from administration, the military and civil society who have made outstanding contributions to the public through their commitment.

Tony Hudgell made headlines in 2020 when he did a fundraising run for a clinic with his prostheses. The campaign was inspired by the then almost 100-year-old World War II veteran Captain Tom Moore, who walked around his backyard with his walker to raise money for the NHS during the pandemic.

Given King Charles’ cancer, it was unclear for a long time whether he would be able to take part in this year’s garden parties. At the end of April, however, the palace announced that the therapy was showing positive results and that the king could at least partially attend public appointments again.
