Actress: Gina Lollobrigida’s property is being auctioned

She was once one of the most famous actresses in the world. Now Gina Lollobrigida’s memorabilia is going under the hammer – including a watch that she received from a special admirer.

A year after the death of Italian film diva Gina Lollobrigida, more than 400 items from her possessions are being auctioned off. In Genoa on the Italian Riviera, furniture, jewelry and works of art, as well as memorabilia, will go under the hammer on May 28th and 29th. This includes a watch that Lollobrigida once received as a gift from Cuba’s revolutionary leader Fidel Castro. The actress, who later also pursued a career as a photographer, died in January 2023 at the age of 95.

The items on offer also include the camera that Lollobrigida preferred to use for portrait photos. She brought Paul Newman, Salvador Dali and Henry Kissinger into the picture, among others. She also took the camera with her when she visited Cuba when she photographed Castro (1926-2016), who was almost the same age. Castro, in turn, once brought her a digital watch with the inscription “For Gina with admiration.” On a visit to Rome he said: “I came to see the Pope and Lollo.”

In addition to various pieces of jewelry, the offer also includes a monumental Sicilian wooden cabinet inlaid with coral and tortoiseshell, a pair of swords from the film “The Most Beautiful Woman in the World”, garden stools made of Chinese porcelain, Russian icons and sculptures of Tibetan gods. The Italian was one of the most famous actresses in the world for decades. Her most important films include “Trapez”, “Fanfan, the Hussar” and “The Hunchback of Notre-Dame”.
