Justin Bieber and his wife Hailey are expecting their first child. They announced this good news on Instagram on Father’s Day. But the offspring took a little longer to arrive and Hailey had her reasons.
They met on a morning show when they were 12 and 15 years old. Justin and Hailey Bieber have been a couple since 2016, getting engaged in July 2018 and then getting married in September 2018. There was always public discussion about when one could expect offspring in the Bieber household. Hailey Bieber has made surprisingly honest comments about this in the past.
Exactly a year ago, in May 2023, Hailey Bieber told the newspaper “The Times” about her desire to have children and why she had not pursued it up to this point. She and her marriage to pop star Justin Bieber have often been the victim of media discussions. Not only did the couple marry fairly quickly after meeting, they were also relatively young at 21 and 25 years old. Many people on social media discussed how serious this marriage really was and how long it would last.
A situation that Hailey Bieber never wanted for her children. She herself said in the interview that she had concerns about raising children in such a public life. “I want children so much, but I’m scared. (…) I’m literally crying,” Bieber told The Times.

“It’s enough for people to say things about my husband or my friends” was one justification for not being ready to raise children in the spotlight. Another is that she got married very young, at the age of 21, and wanted to make her own business, a cosmetics line called Rhode – which is her middle name, which she launched in mid-2022 – a success.
Speaking to the Wall Street Journal at the time, she found clear words for the public’s pressure to have babies: “When women get married, something like this happens. Everyone always assumes: ‘First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby .’ Well, what about all the things I want to achieve in my company?”
Almost two years after launching her beauty business, the time has come: Baby Bieber has announced herself. She told the Times at the time about future Bieber babies: “We can only do our best to raise them. The most important thing is that they feel loved and safe.”
