With his new album “Nach Haus”, the songwriter legend Reinhard Mey catapulted himself once again to number one in the German charts.
Even at the age of 81, the German cult songwriter Reinhard May (81, “Über den Wolken”) once again made it to the top of the German album charts. As shown by GfK Entertainment today, May 10th, the cult singer left the young competition far behind with his new album “Nach Haus” and secured first place for the fourth time in his career, which has been going on since the late 1960s Place. The last time “Meyster” achieved this feat was in 2013 with his album “Dann mach’s gut”, other number one albums were “Bunter Hund” in 2007 and “Mein Achtel Lorbeerblatt” in 1972.
“Above all, I thank you, the audience”
The tireless songwriter is delighted with his late chart success. There he writes: “I am very happy about this recognition, which I am happy to share with everyone involved. Thank you to the musicians who accompanied me, to all the good spirits at Odeon/Universal, Rasale Aydin and my family who supported me , and most of all, thank you, the audience.”
Broilers and Dua Lipa also high up
The other top positions in the German album charts are occupied by the Düsseldorf punk band Broilers (“Jolly Good Fellas – Best Of Broilers 1994-2024”, second place) and the British pop queen Dua Lipa (“Radical Optimism”, third place). As is inevitable in every current hit list, the music billionaire Taylor Swift is of course also represented with her new album “The Tortured Poets Department” (fourth place), followed by the Hamburg musician Jan Delay (“Forever Jan – 25 Years of Jan Delay”) fifth place.
Other new additions to the top ten include the British “punk poet” Frank Turner (“Undefeated”, sixth place), singer Vanessa Mai (“Matrix”, seventh place), the medieval metal band Feuer Schwanz (“Warriors” , eighth place) and rapper Jay Jiggy (“Incredible”, ninth place).
