Joost Klein: He is not allowed to appear at the ESC final

The Dutchman Joost Klein has been excluded from the ESC final. The reason is that the police are investigating the singer.

Dutch artist Joost Klein (26) will not take part in the final of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. This was announced by the organizer, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). The statement added that Swedish police were investigating a complaint from a female member of the production team following an incident following the musician’s performance in the semi-finals on Thursday evening.

No other artist involved

While the legal process takes its course, it would not be appropriate for Klein to continue to compete, the EBU said. The ESC officials also explain: “We would like to make it clear that, contrary to some media reports and speculation on social media, no other artists or delegation members were involved in this incident.”

“We have a zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate behavior at our event and are committed to providing a safe working environment for all competition staff,” the EBU added in its statement. “In view of this, Joost Klein’s behavior towards a team member is considered a breach of the competition rules.” The final of the 68th Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place this evening (May 11th) in Malmö, Sweden, will now take place with 25 entries. Singer Isaak (29) from Minden is already in third place with “Always on the Run”.

Klein was absent from a rehearsal on Friday

The scandal surrounding the Dutchman Joost Klein has been bothering fans and those responsible for the music competition for hours. Klein was still there at the warm-up rehearsal on Friday afternoon. At the subsequent rehearsal, the musician who wanted to perform the song “Europapa” was already missing.
