It houses a large amount of fauna, with around 451 species of vertebrates (59 fish, 19 amphibians, 24 reptiles, 314 birds and 34 mammals), 155 species of butterflies and many more insects.

It is one of the oldest buildings in the town having been inaugurated in 1910. As is also the Naval School created in the 19th century and declared as a Site of Memory, Truth and Justice for having functioned as a clandestine detention center during the last civil-military dictatorship.
How to get to Punta Lara from CABA
- By car: you must take the Buenos Aires – La Plata Highway, when you reach the end of its route, you must connect with Domingo Mercante Avenue. This street takes us to the center of the city of Punta Lara.
- Public transport: From Constitución station you can take the General Roca Railway to travel to La Plata Station. 100 meters from this point, buses 275 B and 275 C pass, leading to the center of Punta Lara.
