Although his life is “completely digital” today, Hape Kerkeling is not at home in the social media world.
Today you can become a star via social media, but Hape Kerkeling (59) earned his status as one of the country’s most famous comedians and entertainers the old-fashioned way on television. In a new interview, he says that although he lives “completely digitally,” he doesn’t have much to do with social media. Instead, he is still a real TV enthusiast.
Hape Kerkeling is interested in “absurd things”
“Absolutely. I watch everything,” is Kerkeling’s answer when asked that he is considered a TV junkie. Although he doesn’t like everything he sees, “I still watch it because sometimes the particularly strange things are the most interesting.”
In times of streaming and social media platforms, he is an advocate of good old television. “Television is still the most fascinating medium for me,” explains Kerkeling. He “tried out” social media, but it’s not my world.
However, that doesn’t mean that the all-rounder, who has also enjoyed great success as an actor, presenter and author, among other things, doesn’t get involved in new things. “Otherwise, I live completely digitally,” says Kerkeling. “At home I can turn off the lights with my cell phone. Even the toilet flush is connected to the phone. But that doesn’t really work yet.”
Kerkeling is also active as a voice actor. Anyone who would like to experience him at the moment can currently hear the entertainer in “Garfield – An Extra Portion of Adventure” as the German voice of the cult cat in the cinema. In the English original, Garfield is spoken by Hollywood star Chris Pratt (44).
