The nationwide seven-day incidence of corona infections has decreased again. The RKI registered only 346 new cases on Monday.
For the first time in ten months, the health authorities reported fewer than 500 new infections to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within a day. The RKI registered 346 new cases, as shown by figures from Monday morning. They reflect the status of the RKI dashboard from 5:10 a.m., subsequent changes or additions to the RKI are possible.
Most recently, the number of new infections per day was 436 on August 10, below the threshold of 500. On Mondays, the number of cases reported by the RKI is usually lower, among other things because fewer tests are carried out on the weekend. A week ago the value was 549 infections. The RKI gave the seven-day incidence on Monday morning as nationwide 8.6 (previous day: 8.8; previous week: 16.6; previous month: 67.3).
According to the information, ten new deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. A week ago there were also ten dead.
More than 90,000 corona deaths since the pandemic began
The RKI has counted 3,722,327 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, however, since many infections are not recognized.
The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at 3,605,200. The number of people who died of or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 is now given as 90,395.
In the RKI situation report from Sunday evening, no nationwide seven-day R-value was shown for “technical reasons”. On Saturday evening, the RKI gave it 0.69 (previous day: 0.70). This means that 100 infected people theoretically infect 69 more people. The R-value represents the occurrence of the infection 8 to 16 days ago. If it is below 1 for a longer period of time, the infection process subsides; if it is consistently higher, the number of cases increases.
