From evening dresses to casual leisure looks to formal office outfits – polka dots adapt to every occasion and give every look that certain something. Whether big or small, in black and white combinations or bright colors – the possibilities are endless.

For an enhanced look, for example, you can combine a polka dot top with plain trousers – or vice versa. Airy dresses with the dot pattern are also eye-catching and can be easily integrated into your summer wardrobe. Especially on hot days when there is no air conditioning, many people like to wear airy clothes. Since the dress stands on its own, polka dots can make the look particularly interesting.

Polka dots are even an issue in sports. In some major cycling races, polka dots are used to identify classification jerseys. For example, the leaders of the mountain classification in the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España wear a corresponding jersey.

Polka Dots: Can everyone wear this?

The belief that dots make you fat is more of a fashion legend than a fact. The effect of dot patterns on the body shape is individual and depends on various factors such as the size of the dots, their arrangement and the cut of the garment.

In general, large, contrasting dots on a tight-fitting garment can result in certain parts of the body being emphasized. Small, evenly distributed dots, on the other hand, can create a visually uniform silhouette and may therefore appear more advantageous.

The most important thing, however, is that you feel comfortable in your outfit and choose items of clothing that emphasize your personal figure and individual style. Ultimately, it’s less the pattern than the cut and fit of a garment that determines how flattering it looks.
