US magician David Copperfield: He is accused of sexual misconduct

David Copperfield has reportedly been accused of sexual misconduct by several women. His lawyers reject the allegations.

16 women are said to have accused magician David Copperfield (67) of sexual misconduct. and relies on his own “interviews with more than 100 people as well as police and court files”. There is talk of a period between the late 1980s and 2014. The report goes on to say that the entertainer got to know the women through his work over his decades-long career. Some of them say they were under 18 at the time.

The 67-year-old was accused of misconduct back in 2018 when a woman named Brittney Lewis claimed he drugged and sexually abused her three decades earlier. Copperfield has disputed this claim. Lewis is one of 16 women in the Guardian report.

Copperfield’s lawyers told the paper he denies any wrongdoing and has “never acted inappropriately with anyone, especially a minor.” The lawyers also pointed out that no complaints had been made against him at the time of the alleged assaults.

Years of relationship with young woman confirmed

A woman named in the Guardian article under a pseudonym claimed she met the magician after one of his shows when she was just 15 years old. When she turned 18, the two had consensual sex, she told the magazine.

Copperfield’s lawyers did not dispute that the magician had known the teenager and said they had a completely legal and consensual relationship that lasted four years. The lawyers said Copperfield “strongly denies any suggestion of grooming or other inappropriate behavior.”

David Copperfield’s name surfaced in connection with Jeffrey Epstein

Copperfield has previously been targeted for his connection to accused sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who died in prison in 2019. His name was among those that appeared in Epstein-related court documents unsealed in January. However, mentioning his name does not mean that he has committed a crime.

“Our client knew nothing about Epstein’s terrible crimes,” the Guardian also quoted Copperfield’s lawyers as saying. “Like the rest of the world, he found out about it from the press,” they added.
