Hollywood shooting star Glen Powell: His parents make fun of him at the film premiere

With these parents, Hollywood shooting star Glen Powell remains firmly on the ground. They trolled him at the premiere of his new film “Hit Man.”

Unusual action on the red carpet at the premiere of the new Netflix film “Hit Man” on Wednesday at the Paramount Theater in Austin, Texas: Lead actor Glen Powell (35) did not appear alone in front of the photographers. The Hollywood shooting star had his parents in tow. And contrary to what you might think, they weren’t interested in making their son appear in the most favorable light possible.

Glen Powell’s family ‘known for raising him’

Instead, they started a small protest behind the friendly, beaming actor, in which each of them held up a cardboard box that they had labeled themselves. “Stop trying to make Glen Powell big,” his mother Cindy Powell read. His father, Glen Powell Sr., had added a “It’ll never happen.”

In recent years, Powell has made a name for himself in Hollywood. He was last seen in “Top Gun: Maverick” (2022) or the romantic comedy “Where the Lie Falls” (2023) with Sydney Sweeney (26). “Hit Man” premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2023 to critical acclaim. It seems that Powell’s parents still want to make sure that his success doesn’t go to his head.

: “Well, my family – always my mother and father – have been known to tease me a bit”. He also explained that the signs his parents were holding were inspired by nasty posts about him on X. “I don’t read tweets, but my parents read tweets – so if you talk trash, you should know that my parents read those tweets,” he added. Glen Powell continued: “They thought it was a fun idea, so I loved it. Even though they troll me, they support me in every way.”

For more down-to-earthness: Mama Cindy criticizes his looks

Powell and his mother made headlines back in February when the actor revealed that she keeps him grounded by pre-criticizing his red carpet looks. “Glen, you know, it might make you look a little stupid,” she’ll say. : “Does anyone have any good nursing home recommendations? I feel like it’s about time.”

Glen Powell currently has two big films coming out. “Hit Man”, directed by Richard Linklater (63, “Boyhood”), can be seen on Netflix from June 7th, and from July 18th he will star alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones (25) in the sequel of the cult blockbuster “Twisters” in the cinemas.

Unlike the native Texan’s parents, the Texan director is really fueling the hype surrounding Hollywood’s shooting star. “It’s Glen’s night, it’s Glen’s summer, it seems. It could be Glen’s year,” Linklater told the US entertainment news magazine at the “Hit Man” premiere.
