This Wednesday, the NFL announced that Netflix will have the exclusive rights to two games from the emblematic day of Christmas as part of a three-year agreement whose financial details were not specified.


One of the matches will feature the Kansas City Chiefs of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelcecurrent champions of the NFLin front of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the other Houston Texans before the Baltimore Ravens.
“There are no annual live events, sporting or otherwise, that can compare to the audience that football attracts. We are very excited that the NFL Christmas Day games are only on Netflix”the platform’s content director, Bela Bajaria, said in a statement.
Until now, the sports offer of Netflix has focused mainly on the production of documentary series on skills such as its own NFL, Formula 1 or tennis.
However, the platform is little by little venturing into live events, such as the tennis exhibition held by the Spanish Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz in March in Las Vegas or the boxing match that the legendary Mike Tyson and the ‘youtuber’ Jake Paul the 20th of July.
On his side, the NFL is increasingly committed to expanding its reach through streaming networks, as it has already begun to do in 2022 with the Thursday game in Amazon Prime.
