“Rosenheim Cops” fan favorite Marisa Burger has read the “unconventional” new “Vikki Victoria” crime novel by Gloria Gray as an audio book.
Actress Marisa Burger (50) has read the new crime novel by Gloria Gray (58), “Beyond Verhausen – Vikki Victoria’s Third Incident”, as an audio book for Audio Verlag. The book and audio book will be available from May 16th.
The publisher says about the content: “Vikki Victoria is doing something bad: Wolf Wolff has invited her to a fancy lunch and is now making a big fuss. Her favorite ex is the leader of a biker gang, but the Switch Blades primarily live out their aggression in rescue operations for animal protection. But then the wolf admits to her that something went wrong during the last intervention, meaning: he killed someone…”
“You can’t put ‘Beyond Verhausen’ in a box. It’s a very special crime genre that I hadn’t encountered before,” explains Marisa Burger, who plays secretary Miriam Stockl in the series “The Rosenheim Cops.” (since 2002, ZDF) became a fan favorite. In an interview with spot on news, she continues to say about the investigator “Vikki Victoria”: “It’s a strange protagonist who acts very unconventionally.”
Marisa Burger about Gloria Gray: “We got along well right away”
Audio book narrator Marisa Burger and author Gloria Gray also met in person. “We met in person and I think Gloria is a wonderful, impressive lady,” enthuses the Munich resident. And vice versa, the enthusiasm cannot be ignored: “spoken by the wonderful Marisa Burger/Stockl from the Rosenheim Cops”.
But it’s not just the third case in the crime series that connects the two. Because while Burger was born in Altötting in Upper Bavaria, Gray was born in Zwiesel in Lower Bavaria. “We both come from the country. Maybe that’s why we have a connection in some things. But whether that’s actually because of Altötting and Zwiesel can’t be said. In any case, we got along well right away,” says Burger.
Marisa Burger: “I can let my creativity run wild when producing audio books”
Marisa Burger really enjoys working on audio books. “I can let my creativity run wild and design the characters myself, for example how I think they speak,” she explains. Anyone who thinks reading audio books is simply reading aloud is far from the truth. The actress prepares meticulously for such an assignment. First on the agenda is “read, read, read”. “Because when I read, I feel the characters of the characters I’m reading,” she adds. “In the recording studio I read the various chapters for four to six hours a day, five to six days in a row,” said the actress about the actual recordings.
In the case of “Beyond Verhausen – Vikki Victoria’s Third Incident”, these were successful and became a pleasant and exciting listening pleasure. Maybe also thanks to “throat sweets and still water”, Marisa Burger’s little helper for a good voice. And her favorite way to balance things out after a stressful day of speaking or filming is always “exercise and meditation.”
But Marisa Burger doesn’t just make audio books, she also enjoys consuming them. On long train or car journeys, she prefers to listen to “music, but also podcasts and audio books – especially true crime cases.” Speaking of travel, the new “Vikki Victoria” crime thriller is about bikers, among other things. “I don’t ride a motorcycle myself, but my husband does – and I like to get on his bike. But I even prefer sitting behind him on a Vespa. It rides smoother and has an Italian flair,” she enthuses.
Break from the “Rosenheim Cops”
Since April, the new episodes for the 24th season of the popular crime series “The Rosenheim Cops” have been being produced in Rosenheim in Upper Bavaria, in Munich and the surrounding area, and in the Bavaria Studios. “As always, there are exciting cases and funny stories,” fan favorite Marisa Burger is vague about the content. After all, she reveals: “We also shot a 90-minute film at the beginning of the year, the winter special.”
Recently there was a little excitement again because the actress was missing from some “Cops” episodes. She says: “I just think it’s a shame when a topic is a bit inflated or not sufficiently researched […] At the same time, of course, I’m happy when the audience misses you.” During such breaks, she makes audio books like the “Vikki Victoria” crime novel. “Or last year, for example, I had my book ‘Never forget, like yours.’ “Heart at the beginning was finished,” said Burger.
