Even after a serious esophageal operation, Heinz Hoenig doesn’t want to give up, says his wife.
Last Monday, Heinz Hoenig (72) had to undergo esophageal surgery. that the procedure for the actor was “successful so far”. A little later, Hoenig was awake again, but he was in a sensitive phase. Hoenig is currently apparently on the mend, as has been suggested.
Heinz Hoenig is a fighter
“Heinz feels the love of his family, that gives him strength,” says his wife, Annika Kärsten-Hoenig (39), to the daily newspaper. She further explains: “He is a fighter and we will never give up. No person who loves his children would give up.” The seriously ill actor is “the bull”, she is “his lioness” and they both want to “continue to be strong for our family”.
Accordingly, Hoenig can now make phone calls again. He calls his wife late in the evening to wish her and the children a good night, as she says. It calms the actor when she tells him that his family is doing well. Apparently the couple is looking positively towards the future. “We took advantage of our opportunity and were rewarded. The doctors gave us time. Now we’re looking further ahead,” says Kärsten-Hoenig.
Hoenig had previously indicated that he would do everything he could to recover. “Tell the people out there, I’m coming back, no matter what, I’m coming back,” he said about a week ago. But Hoenig still has another procedure ahead of him; he also needs to have surgery on the aorta. However, this further step can only be carried out once Hoenig has recovered sufficiently.
Kärsten-Hoenig explained why the operations were necessary. A bacterial infection had spread to his entire aorta and a stent inserted in 2012 was damaged. The actor then had a new stent inserted, but still needs a new aorta. Before that, he had to undergo surgery because of a hole in his esophagus.
