With his version of the classic “The Sound of Silence” the Hessian prevails against the competition. This is the first time Coach Wincent Weiss has seen a member of his team win.
15-year-old Jakob from Limburg an der Lahn in Hesse won the casting show “The Voice Kids”. The teenager won the finale of the show’s twelfth season on Friday evening with a performance of the evergreen “The Sound of Silence” by Simon & Garfunkel.
Jakob was part of the team of pop musician Wincent Weiss, who was there again as a coach and now, in what is now his fourth attempt, saw a talent from his team win. The 31-year-old was correspondingly surprised by his protégé’s triumph: “At first I couldn’t believe that Jakob had won and that he was actually from my team,” said Weiss, according to the announcement on Saturday.
In addition to Weiss, Lena Meyer-Landrut, Alvaro Soler and Smudo and Michi Beck from the Fantastischen Vier were also there again this season.
