Sharon Stone: She wants her old life back

More than 20 years ago, Sharon Stone suffered a stroke. Today she is fighting to get her career back.

Sharon Stone (66) was once a big world star, but after a devastating stroke in 2001 she still has to fight for her old career. The actress, who celebrated her big international breakthrough with Paul Verhoeven’s (85) “Basic Instinct” in the early 1990s, has now said this.

Sharon Stone: “I would really like to have my life back”

“I still don’t have my acting career back,” says Stone. “I would love to work as an actress again,” says the 66-year-old, and by that she doesn’t mean a “weak, supportive, shitty role.” So she doesn’t want to appear in supporting roles: “I really want to have the roles that I deserve and that I can play. I would really like to have my own, real career back. I would really like to have my life back.”

It took Stone seven years to recover from a stroke and brain hemorrhage she suffered in 2001. Her career is still suffering from the consequences to this day. It’s not a great story and she wouldn’t say that she experienced a rebirth. She survived.

Already told in 2019: “I don’t think anyone understands how dangerous a stroke is for women and what it takes to recover from it – it took me about seven years.” During this time she lost everything she had, including her place in the film business. Before that she was one of the “hottest movie stars”, but after that she was forgotten.
