Courtney Cox’s confession about the late Matthew Perry: “He visits me a lot”

Perry, best known for playing Chandler Bing on the hit comedy, died on October 28 at his home in California, aged 54. Perry’s cause of death was “cardiovascular overstimulation and respiratory depression,” due to the acute effects of drug use.

Cox played Monica opposite Perry in Friends from 1994 to 2004 and their on-screen relationship proved to be a hit with fans of the show.

What Courtney Cox said about Matthew Perry

In a new interview with CBS, Cox said he still “feels” Perry around him.

She explained: “I am very grateful to have been able to work so closely with him for so many years. He visits me a lot, if we believe in that”.

Cox went on to say that he still talks to Perry, as well as other deceased family members. “I talk to my mom, my dad, Matthew,” she continued. “I feel like there are a lot of people who, I think, guide us… I feel… I feel like Matthew is close, for sure.”

Cox recalled that Perry was “very funny” and someone with a “genuinely huge heart”. She also reflected on how he too “obviously struggled.”

In his 2022 autobiography Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible ThingPerry opened up about his long-term addiction to both alcohol and painkillers.
