Pictures initially show the actress beaming while posing for the photographers. When she went up the stairs, a security guard seemed to disturb her good mood. The security guard held her arm up behind the star, seemingly leading her into the venue away from the crowd, and said something. Rowland then turned around, raised his left index finger in warning, and appeared to scold the woman loudly. What exactly triggered the incident is not known.
