A few days after a video was released showing Sean “Diddy” Combs beating up his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in 2016, she has spoken out for the first time. She has a request for everyone who feels for her.
These are shocking images that could have caused lasting damage to the public image of Sean “Diddy” Combs. As footage from a surveillance camera showed, the musician beat up his then-girlfriend Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura in a hotel hallway in 2016.
Sean “Diddy” Combs: Cassie speaks out about beating incident
In a 35-page indictment at the end of last year, Cassie accused the producer of psychological and physical violence and manipulation. A little later both agreed to a settlement. Diddy said at the time that he had never been violent. The video recordings have shockingly proven that this is not true. In the past few days, Cassie has received a lot of encouragement and sympathy on Instagram.
“The abundance of love has created a place where my younger self can settle down and feel safe, but this is just the beginning,” she writes on the photo platform. “Domestic violence is THE issue. It has made me someone I never thought I would become,” the mother of two continues.
She has a request for her fans
In addition to gratitude, Cassie also expresses a request. She hopes that people will open their hearts “and believe the victims for the first time.” Far too often, victims of violence – often women – are not believed when they talk about their experiences.
Cassie’s statements last year were also partly questioned on social media because she reached an out-of-court settlement with her tormentor. “It takes a lot of heart to tell the truth from a situation where you were powerless. I extend a hand to those who are still living in fear. Extend a hand to your people, don’t shut them out. No one should bear this burden alone,” Cassie writes.
