For Janine Kunze (50), communication is the key. She has been married to her husband Dirk Budach (60) since 2002; the two have two daughters and a son. “The biggest secret is: you must not be afraid of arguing. That’s how I raised my children,” the presenter revealed on May 24 in the “NDR Talk Show” about her relationship success.
“Feelings have to be lived, they have to come out. We also talk to each other a lot. You can’t stop talking and you should laugh a lot with each other,” she explained. It is also important to Kunze and her husband to spend a lot of time together and to take time out. “Even if we just go to our favorite hotel in our city,” she explained.

After 22 years, however, everyday life has crept into their marriage. Janine Kunze and Dirk Budach, a lawyer and nightclub restaurateur, are both hard-working “alpha animals”. “Of course, I don’t throw away my panties every day when my husband comes home. You don’t have butterflies in your stomach every day anymore,” admitted Kunze.
Janine Kunze and Dirk Budach tied the knot in a Buddhist ceremony in a temple in Thailand in 2002. On their 22nd wedding anniversary, the actress shared a sweet declaration of love to her partner in March. “I can only imagine how hard it must be sometimes to love me, but you’ve been doing that for over 22 years! […] I love you to the moon and back,” she wrote at the time under shared snapshots from their two decades of relationship.
