ABBA star Björn Ulvaeus may now be starting a second career as a speaker. He can be booked for question and answer sessions and fireside chats.
ABBA singer Björn Ulvaeus (79) has tens of millions in his account, but apparently still doesn’t want to retire completely. As the British newspaper “The Mirror” reported, the Swedish musician is said to have a new part-time job as a public speaker for “fireside chats and question-and-answer sessions”.
Ulvaes is under contract with the talent agency Kruger Cowne, which has highlighted him as “Speaker of the Week”. According to the agency, the pop legend can be booked for “after-dinner consultations, performances, keynote speeches, moderated question-and-answer sessions” and “fireside chats”. But the 79-year-old probably doesn’t need this income – after all, according to “The Mirror”, his fortune is said to be more than 200 million euros.
ABBA is still one of the most successful bands in music history. In 1974, the four-member group won the Eurovision Song Contest, after which they celebrated nine number one singles and ten number one albums. Even after ABBA’s demise in 1982, the cult surrounding the band lives on. In recent years, a virtual concert show has attracted many viewers.
50 years after their Eurovision victory
Many fans had hoped that the musicians would be on stage together again this year – to mark the 50th anniversary of their ESC victory. But the European music competition, which even took place in Sweden this year, had to do without the cult musicians. A joint statement was released, however, saying: “It is difficult to comprehend that 50 years have passed since the four of us waited backstage at the Dome in Brighton for the verdicts of all the juries from across Europe.” ABBA continued: “So what were our dreams in those exciting moments or in the chaos after the victory, which we had achieved by the narrowest margin in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest? Four different dreams, no doubt, but whatever they were, however great they were, reality surpassed them, that much is certain.”
