Philipp Plein: “I was a playboy!”

Philipp Plein (46) reflects on the confusion surrounding his patchwork family. The designer’s fourth child will be born in a few months. The baby’s mother is his girlfriend Andreea Sasu (29). However, he was still together with Lucia Bartoli (25) until October 2023 and welcomed his second child with her in the same month. “I was a playboy. I don’t deny it,” Plein admits

“When I was younger, I dated a few women because I enjoyed life,” he explains. The Munich native feels it is “important” to live out his life in this way. “It is important to enjoy life one day before you get married or before you decide to settle down,” he explains.

He feels sorry for Lucia Bartoli

Philipp Plein has definitely lived it up – and in doing so risked offending his ex-girlfriend Lucia Bartoli. “When Lucia and I split up, we both decided to take this step. Then she might not have expected that I would have another baby in such a short time,” he explains.

This “really hurt” the new mother of two. “And I have to say, I understand it,” Plein says with understanding. He knew that he didn’t want to wait long to have a child with his new girlfriend – but the fact that the pregnancy would happen so quickly was also a surprise to him.

Four sons from three women

Plein announced his separation from Lucia Bartoli in March. He explained that the five-year relationship had already broken up in October, a few weeks after the birth of their second son. The separation was on good terms. Shortly afterwards, the fashion designer’s management confirmed that he was in a new relationship and that his partner Andreea Sasu was already pregnant.

For Philipp Plein, the child with Sasu, a son, will be the fourth offspring. In May 2022, the first baby with Bartoli was born, a boy named Rocket Halo Ocean. The son, born in October 2023, is called Rouge Sky Galaxy. He also has a son, Romeo, who is now ten years old, from a previous relationship.
