Celebrities got out their trainers for a good cause: at the “Scoring Girls” charity match in Berlin’s Poststadion. But it wasn’t just about football.
Celebrities donned football jerseys as part of a charity match. Federal Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir (Greens) and actress and choreographer Nikeata Thompson played at the “Scoring Girls*” charity match 2024 in the Poststadion.
Actor Fahri Yardim was also there, but promptly injured himself during the warm-up and did not play – but shortly afterwards he was smiling into the camera again. Bundestag President Bärbel Bas (SPD), journalist Anne Will and the 102-year-old Holocaust survivor Margot Friedländer were also there.
The project was launched by former professional footballer Tuğba Tekkal, who also initiated the game. Palestinian, Jewish, Arab, Afghan and German girls play together in the “Scoring Girls*”. The project is intended to give girls and women, regardless of their nationality, socio-economic background or religious beliefs, the chance to discover their strengths and build self-confidence. It is about much more than a charity game, her sister Düzen Tekkal told the dpa. It is about social cohesion and diversity, about “overcoming the dynamics of division, especially in times like these,” said the author and journalist.
