Lady Gaga is teasing details of her role as Harley Quinn in the upcoming film Joker: Folie à Deux.
In a new interview to promote the film Gaga Chomatica Ball (available in Max), the star revealed how his version of the comic book character differs.
“You know my version of Harley is mine and it’s very authentic to this movie and these characters,” he told Access Hollywood. “She’s never done anything like what I did in this movie before, so it’s all going to be brand new and really fun.”
Gaga stars alongside Joaquin Phoenix the Joker sequel directed by Todd Phillips. The DC Studios musical will premiere in theaters on October 4.
The cast of Joker: Folie à Deux also includes Catherine Keener, Brendan Gleeson and Zazie Beetz. The film is part of DC Elseworlds and is not part of the universe that Peter Safran and James Gunn have been building since taking the helm of DC Studios.
What Margot Robbie said after Lady Gaga was cast as Harley Quinn
Gaga will take on the role of Harley Quinn, who Margot Robbie played in films like Suicide Squad (2016), Birds of Prey (2020) and The Suicide Squad (2021). Robbie has expressed his excitement for the new version of the character after learning that Gaga was cast in the role.
“It makes me very happy because I said from the beginning, all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters, in the same way that Macbeth or Batman always go from great actor to great actor“Robbie told MTV News in 2022.
He continued: “It’s a great honor to have built a solid enough foundation that Harley can now be one of those characters that other actors can try to play. I think he’ll do something amazing with it.”.
