Here you can see the number of Vaccination doses administered according to entries in the electronic vaccination pass (e-vaccination pass). Since the infrastructure for blanket registration in the e-vaccination pass is still under construction, this number does not yet represent 100 percent of the vaccinations actually carried out.

Vaccination doses delivered and ordered
In the number of vaccination doses delivered is an estimate. The calculation is based on the doses delivered to the vaccination centers. These are inoculated immediately after delivery. According to a recommendation by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), six (Biontech / Pfizer) or ten (AstraZeneca and Moderna) doses per vial are expected for each vial of vaccines delivered. In the number of ordered vaccination doses it is the sum of the cans requested in the e-shop of the Federal Procurement Company (BBG). The vaccination centers request the doses according to their needs.
How are the vaccines different?
- The vaccine of AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson are so-called vector vaccines. You need a virus as a basis to get information into your body. At Johnson & Johnson, it’s a human runny nose virus that has been rendered harmless. It contains the genetic material of a surface protein with which the SARS-CoV-2 pathogen docks onto human cells. The body cells of the vaccinated person form the protein with the help of the assembly instructions, the body develops an immune response.
- The preparations of Biontech/Pfizer and Modern on the other hand, so-called mRNA vaccines are. “m” stands for messenger, “RNA” for ribonucleic acid. Here the mRNA is the building instruction for a component of the Covid-19 pathogen. It gets into the body cells with the help of tiny droplets of fat. These then also produce the virus protein against which the body develops its immune response.
