Sophia Thomalla: Why she missed Alexander Zverev’s victory

Alexander Zverev defeated Rafael Nadal at the French Open. Zverev’s girlfriend Sophia Thomalla was unable to attend – for good reason.

Sophia Thomalla (34) celebrated the victory of her partner, tennis star Alexander Zverev (27), over Rafael Nadal (37). However, the presenter was unable to support him personally at the French Open in Paris.

The 34-year-old shared a picture of Zverev with a winning fist and the final score of the first-round match in her Instagram stories. The post originally came from the tournament organizer. It reads: “Two years after their epic, unfinished match, Zverev inflicts Nadal’s first first-round defeat at Roland Garros.” In 2022, Zverev had to retire due to injury. Sophia Thomalla added a joy and a heart emoji to Zverev’s winning pose in her stories, as well as the text: “Meanwhile in Paris.” She shows in further posts that she watched the game on the screen in the hotel, as she is currently busy filming.

This is again being produced on Koh Samui in Thailand, as Thomalla also revealed in her post. The 34-year-old has been hosting the show since 2021, and thus season two.

Alexander Zverev will probably have to continue fighting in Paris without the personal support of his girlfriend, who has often cheered him on at tournaments. In his Instagram stories, he shows impressions of his match against Nadal, the record champion of the French Open. Among other things, he posted a post about him that reads: “The third man to ever beat Rafa at Roland Garros.”

Tennis star Alexander Zverev and presenter Sophia Thomalla made their relationship public in October 2021. In December of that year, they celebrated their first official appearance as a couple on “Ein Herz für Kinder”.
