Following a raid on May 23, US rapper Sean Kingston is now charged with ten counts of fraud and theft.
The US rapper and singer Sean Kingston (34) is accused of ten counts of fraud and theft. The “Me Love” singer was arrested in California last Thursday, May 23, after a raid on his rented villa in Florida, where he was staying for a performance.
According to an arrest warrant from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, which was obtained by “People,” the 34-year-old faces charges including organized fraud, criminal use of personal identification information and grand theft.
Kingston’s mother also arrested
As “People” further reports, the rapper’s mother, Janice Turner (61), was also taken into custody during the raid. However, on Sunday, May 26, Turner was released after paying bail of 160,000 US dollars.
Mother and son are accused of defrauding a jeweler, a car dealer and several other companies of hundreds of thousands of US dollars. Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, and Turner are said to have purchased goods but not paid for them.
According to the arrest warrant, the items included jewelry valued at around $500,000, a Cadillac Escalade valued at $160,000, and custom-made beds valued at around $86,000.
Not the first time in conflict with the law
This is not the US rapper’s first brush with the law. Before his current arrest, Kingston was already sentenced to two years’ probation for illegal trafficking in stolen property.
Shortly before his arrest, the “Beautiful Girls” singer made a statement and said: “People love negative energy! I’m good and so is my mother!” In addition, his lawyers had already been informed and would “take care of everything”.
