Steven Seagal: Anti-Ukraine propaganda during speech

Steven Seagal has once again expressed his support for the Kremlin. After Vladimir Putin awarded him a medal, he spoke about Ukraine.

Steven Seagal (72) has received the “Order of Friendship” from Vladimir Putin (71). Seagal used the ceremony, at which Russia’s president pinned the order on the former action star’s lapel, to give a speech against Ukraine. Before the “special operation”, as Steven Seagal called the war of aggression according to Moscow’s state propaganda, terrible conditions prevailed there, he claimed.

Steven Seagal also accused the West of wanting to start a Third World War and attacked the “monsters of the fake press”.

Moving images of the speech, which Seagal read from his smartphone, were uploaded. One user joked that this was Seagal’s first award since the negative Golden Raspberry award.

Vladimir Putin announced in February 2023 that Steven Seagal would receive the Russian Order of Friendship. For his “important contribution to the development of international cultural and humanitarian cooperation,” the justification said.

Seagal and his commitment to Putin

Steven Seagal was personally awarded Russian citizenship by Putin in 2016. The president had previously recruited him as a lobbyist for the Russian arms industry. In 2018, he appointed the action actor as a special representative of the State Department. Seagal was recently the guest of honor at Vladimir Putin’s swearing-in for his fifth term in office.

Steven Seagal describes himself as “100 percent Russophile.” His paternal grandparents say they come from Vladivostok and St. Petersburg.
