The mother of former First Lady Michelle has died. Marian Robinson was 86 years old.
The mother of former First Lady Michelle Obama (60) died on Friday. Marian Robinson was 86 years old. “She passed away peacefully this morning and right now none of us really knows how we will go on without her,” the statement said.
When her daughter moved into the White House with former President Barack Obama (62) after the 2008 election, the Chicago native came with her. “We needed her. The girls needed her. And in the end, she was our rock,” the family said. “She enjoyed her role as a grandmother. And although she enforced all the household rules we set for bedtime, watching TV or eating candy, she made it clear that she would side with her grandchildren when she felt their parents were too strict.”
The statement was shared by Michelle and Barack Obama, Michelle’s brother Craig Robinson and his wife Kelly, and Marian Robinson’s grandchildren Avery, Leslie, Malia, Sasha, Austin and Aaron.
