The mother of former First Lady Michelle Obama died on Friday. The family announced this. Marian Robinson was 86 years old. “She passed away peacefully this morning and right now none of us really know how we will go on without her,” the statement said.
When her daughter moved into the White House with former President Barack Obama after the 2008 election, the Chicago native came with her. “We needed her. The girls needed her. And in the end, she was our rock,” the family said. “She relished her role as a grandmother. And although she enforced any household rules we set about bedtime, watching TV or eating candy, she made it clear that she would side with her grandchildren when she felt their parents were being too strict.”
