Annika Kärsten-Hoenig is currently living in constant worry about her sick husband. In an interview, she swears eternal loyalty to him.
Heinz Hoenig (“Das Boot”, 72) has been in hospital since the beginning of May, fighting for his life. In addition to heart problems, the actor is struggling with an esophagus destroyed by a bacterial infection, which had to be removed a few days ago. The planned, life-saving heart surgery was postponed again due to his deteriorating health, and Hoenig was again briefly placed in an artificial coma.
Wife Annika does not give up hope
His wife Annika Kärsten-Hoenig (39), who visits him in the hospital every day and also looks after their two children Juliano (3) and Jianni (1), does not give up hope of being able to bring her husband home again soon. “She now assured him that she will continue to support him unconditionally in the future, no matter what the future may bring them.
During the conversation, she was pragmatic and resigned to her fate: “There’s no point in complaining, that doesn’t get me anywhere,” said Kärsten-Hoenig. “I just hold on to the belief that everything will turn out for the best. I also said to Heinz: ‘No matter how long it takes… All good things come to those who wait.'” This motto also helped her grandmother get through difficult times. “We may not be able to sprint now, but it’s a marathon,” said the trained nurse. “And with every little step we get closer to our goal.”
Always there for Heinz – even when he becomes a nursing case
Her husband Heinz can rely on her unwavering loyalty – “in good times and in bad”. Even young people can have to deal with such a stroke of fate, and it is not always just a matter of age. She concluded the interview with an emotional message to her husband and the concerned public: “I married my husband out of love and for me, everything is part of that. Even if he needs care later, I will be there, day and night. Always. Forever.”
