Presenter Sarah Valentina Winkhaus: The joys of motherhood through sperm donation

Sarah Valentina Winkhaus has been reveling in the joys of motherhood since the beginning of 2023. She has now revealed how rocky the road to having children really was.

In mid-March last year, TV presenter Sarah Valentina Winkhaus (42) surprised everyone with wonderful news – the birth of her daughter Clara. At the time, she described the “path to this little miracle [als] rocky and long”. In an interview with , the 42-year-old revealed in detail what she meant by that.

Little Clara is the result of intensive hormone therapy and a sperm donation. Winkhaus hopes that more education will be provided in the future: “Like many other women, I thought I was extremely fertile. But I didn’t know at the time that women actually start to plummet down the fertility scale after the age of 35. And nobody tells you that when you’re younger and could still easily remove and freeze eggs without expensive hormone therapy. This topic should be at the top of doctors’ lists!”

“Completely new era”

From 2013, Winkhaus reported from the Formula 1 race track for the pay-TV broadcaster Sky. She continued, it was difficult to combine this career with family planning: “I found myself in the standby trap that many women who want children find themselves in.” But ultimately she came to a realization that saved her life: “‘You can’t have everything’ was drummed into so many of us from childhood and repeated like a mantra. Why not? Who decides that? I want a career and a child. And when it suits everyone best – for everyone involved.”

The sweet result: Her daughter Clara was born just in time for Valentine’s Day on February 14, 2023. According to the report, she paid around 30,000 euros for the joys of motherhood. A sum that she would probably spend again at any time: “With Clara, a completely new era began. There is only one life before the miracle and one after the great happiness. I am infinitely grateful that I actually went through with it.”
