Adele has once again shown herself to be an LGBTQ+ supporter and responded to a homophobic interjection with a clear statement.
In Pride month, June, lesbians, gays, bisexuals, queers and transgender people are celebrated. Adele (36) is considered a great supporter of the LGBTQ+ community – and one of her concert-goers felt that at the weekend. When the heckler made negative comments at the start of Pride month, of all times, the singer reacted with a tirade.
“Don’t be so damn ridiculous”
During her concert at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, an audience member shouted disparagingly into the hall: “Pride sucks.” The 36-year-old then defended the LGBTQ+ community, as shown. She responded, accompanied by a few swear words, with the words: “Are you stupid? Don’t be so damn ridiculous. If you don’t have anything nice to say, shut up, OK?”
Adele has many LGBTQ+ fans and has shown her support for the community on many occasions. In 2023, she celebrated Pride month in Las Vegas in a black dress with a rainbow train and confetti.
She has already encouraged many fans to come out
The Hello star has also stressed that her famous track I Set Fire To The Rain is a “gay anthem”. She explained that she wrote the big hit after one of her gay friends said her previous track Chasing Pavements wasn’t gay enough of an anthem, so she set about writing a new song for queer people. She told Out magazine: “I get a lot of emails from people telling me that I make them really happy to be themselves and feel really comfortable with who they are, which I love.”
She has also made it clear that she would support her son Angelo (11) if he ever came out as gay. In 2015, she told Time Magazine: “I can’t wait to find out who his best friends will be, who his girlfriend or boyfriend will be, or what movies he likes… Whatever my child wants to do or be, I will always support him, no matter what.”
