The Tessera Sanitaria is the most relevant procedure to access the public health service in Italy. This documentation allows those who carry it to receive free hospital and health care. - Individualization: for its function as a health identity document.

- Prescriptions and payments: This documentation is necessary to pick up medications at pharmacies and to make payments, where necessary.
