The 44-year-old actress with more than 20 years of experience made the announcement through her social networks.
Evangeline Lilly shared in an Instagram post on Monday that she is “stepping away” from acting, for now. The actress, best known for “Lost” and the franchise “Ant-Man” of Marvel next to Paul Ruddwrote: “Maybe one day I will return to Hollywood, but for now, this is my place.”

“Today I am so filled with joy and fulfillment as I live my vision,” Lilly wrote. “Praise God, I feel very grateful for my blessings. Walking away from what seems like the obvious choice (wealth and fame) can be scary at times, but stepping into your dharma replaces fear with contentment.”


The post was paired with a 2006 video of Lilly talking about her aspirations and plans to retire from acting within a decade to pursue other passions, such as having children and writing.
“In ten years where would I like to be?” Lilly said in the clip. “I’m terrified to admit this to the rest of the acting world, but ideally, in 10 years, I’d like to be a retired actress and I’d like to have a family. And I would like to write and maybe influence people’s lives in a more humanitarian way.”
“Maybe one day I’ll return to Hollywood, but for now, this is where I belong.”, he added in his caption on Monday. “A new season has arrived and I AM READY… and I AM HAPPY.”
