Fans have been waiting for the next installment of the found footage horror series Creep of Mark Duplass and Patrick Bricesince it came out Creep 2 in 2017. The wait is over, but it won’t hit theaters. Variety reports that Duplass and Brice are pitching a new television series, The Creep Tapes.

The series will focus on tapes found in the “secret vault” of the saga’s anonymous killer, who hires strangers to record him before killing them. Each episode of the series, which has already been filmed, will focus on a different victim. Duplass also previewed the new series on his networks.

The short, distorted clip shows a man (presumably Duplass himself) playing Richard Strauss’ “Thus Spoke Zarathustra” (used in 2001: A Space Odyssey). As the camera reaches the man’s face, we realize that he is wearing the “Peachfuzz” werewolf mask, which appears in both Creep and Creep 2. As he attacks the camera, the video fades to black and the words ” soon…”.

What is Creep about?
In 2014’s Creep, Josef (Duplass), a man who claims to be dying of cancer, hires cameraman Aaron (Brice) to document his final days, so that his unborn son can have a memory of his father. However, Josef’s increasingly erratic behavior, including his penchant for a disturbing werewolf mask he calls “Peachfuzz”, soon drives Aaron away. Josef begins to stalk Aaron and eventually kill him, revealing that he is a serial killer who has done this many times before.
In the 2017 sequel, Creep 2, Josef (now called Aaron, having stolen his previous victim’s identity) repeated the pattern with YouTuber Sara (Desiree Akhavan). However, this time he may have found his rival, but his attempt to end his serial killer career with a murder-suicide ends when he is hit over the head with a shovel while Sara escapes. .. or not?
Duplass and Brice co-created The Creep Tapes; Brice directed the series. Editor Chris Donlon is executive producer, with Duplass, his brother and frequent collaborator Jay Duplass and Mel Eslyn producing. CAA is shopping the series and has not yet found a broadcast channel or streaming platform.
The Creep Tapes has not yet set a release date.
