Selma Blair: With assistance dog on the red carpet

Selma Blair, who suffers from MS, receives support in her daily life from an assistance dog. She recently took Scout with her to a film festival.

Selma Blair (51) is not letting her illness get her down. The actress is open about having multiple sclerosis (MS). In everyday life, she has an assistance dog because of the limitations caused by the nervous disease. At the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, she had her Labrador Scout with her on the red carpet and posed with the animal for the photographers.

Blair, who is a member of the festival jury like last year, attended the premiere of the documentary film “Diane Von Furstenberg: Woman In Charge” on June 5th. She appeared at the event smiling in a black dress and black high heels. While his mistress presented herself to the cameras, Scout stood relaxed next to her and made himself comfortable on the red carpet.

Scout gave Selma Blair “independence back”

Selma Blair and her Scout have been a team since 2021. A year later, the “Cruel Intentions” actress raved about her bond with her Labrador. “He’s a great gift. He’s with me all the time. If I get a big cramp or have trouble moving and need to rebalance, he can get between my legs, help me up and balance me,” she explained. Having the dog by her side has given her “a lot of independence.”

Selma Blair made her MS illness public in 2018. Since then, she has had repeated bouts of the incurable disease and at times could only walk with a walking aid. Blair wants to encourage other sufferers with her open approach. In 2021, she even had a camera crew accompany her during a dangerous stem cell therapy in the hospital.
