The “Mad Men” star used to find auditioning for roles “simply annoying”. He has unpleasant memories of one station boss in particular.
“Mad Men” star Jon Hamm talks about how he was once completely denied his suitability for television. The head of a television station told his agent: “This Jon Hamm will never be a television star,” the 53-year-old Hamm told the US magazine “Hollywood Reporter.” The man in question is no longer at the head of the station, Hamm added.
He auditioned for this person and this channel over and over again. “It always came down to the last two, me and the person who got the role.” Auditions are “just annoying,” but at the same time they are the only option actors have.
Hamm is known for his role as hard-drinking advertising man and womanizer Don Draper in the 1960s television series “Mad Men” (2007 to 2015) and has starred in other drama series in recent years such as “Fargo” and “The Morning Show”.
