Can dogs know who is a bad person?
In this study, Takoaka did a test using, on the one hand, containers with food and, on the other, empty ones. During the procedure, a volunteer told the animal what to feed; In the first phase he did so by pointing to the full container from which he could eat; In the second, another human indicated the same thing, but towards which it contained nothing. Finally, during the last stage, he replicated what he did in the first phase. By repeating the test a second time, it was proven that the pet had memory of who gave it the correct sign.
In fact, it is indicated that these animals demonstrated “an inference about the trustworthiness of the deceptive human.” Likewise, another stage of the study consisted of observation, since the reactions of the dogs were determined regarding the attitudes of the volunteers, who were asked to act in different ways with the owners of the animals. Those who were mistreated had a “defense” from their pets, with unfriendly behavior that demonstrated their loyalty.
