David Duchovny: He feels inadequate as a father

David Duchovny loves his children, but he is certainly not a perfect father, as the actor says.

David Duchovny (63) loves his two children very much, but he is sure that he is not a perfect father. The actor, known among other things as Fox Mulder from the cult series “The X-Files”, has now spoken about this. He has certainly made mistakes, but his son Kyd (21) and his daughter West (25), whom Duchovny has with his ex-wife Téa Leoni (58), are wonderful people.

David Duchovny: “I’m sure I made mistakes”

“I will [als Elternteil] always feel inadequate,” says Duchovny. Maybe he was a good father, “because my children are great people,” who probably also like to think that he was a good parent. “They don’t want to think of me as a failure,” believes the actor. “I’m sure I’ve done bad things, I’m sure I’ve made mistakes, but we all have.”

Duchovny worked a lot when his children were still small. He might have changed that in retrospect, but on the other hand, it might not be “the best thing to dedicate your whole life to your child.” He can only look back on the path he himself has taken. The star is “certainly not a perfect parent, but I love my children. I love my children so, so much.” He said they “love me unconditionally.” [gefühlt]and I love them unconditionally,” Duchovny explains. “Just having them in the world has taught me that feeling from both sides,” and he doesn’t think there’s anything more meaningful.

West can probably now understand how busy her father was when she was growing up. She has also been working as an actress for several years and can be seen in the miniseries “Saint X” and “Painkiller”, among others.
