The history of Château d’Ancón, the incredible mansion built in the Uco Valley
The mansion was built in 1933 by Domingo Lucas Bombal, belonging to a powerful local family, with materials and furniture brought especially from France, Italy and Portugal to recreate European aristocracy in his summer home. Domingo came to England as a boy, studied at Eton and Cambridge and then lived for many years in Paris. His mother, Lucila, who was widowed at a very young age, a renowned Mendoza lady committed to providing social help, donated land to create several schools in the province and started the family wine business, which her heir continued on the 2,300-hectare ranch where the house was raised.
How to stay at Château d’Ancón
The new accommodation proposal includes full board and the possibility of horseback riding, 4×4 tours through the vineyards, walks around the ranch, which is in full production, and wine tastings in the winery.
In Ancón, the crops in the garden, which then reach the large table that guests share with Jorge, are governed by biodynamic criteria, which follows the lunar cycle. Own-produced dairy products, such as dulce de leche and yogurt served for breakfast, fruits, flowers and organic aromatic herbs are the protagonists. The kitchen is in charge of chef Hernán Simesen.
Besides, In August they plan to add a new gastronomic proposal with the inauguration of the restaurant that will be called El Granero, also in the ranch.
