The Emmy-winning actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen ll will star in and executive produce the upcoming series of Netflix, man on fire (Man on Fire).
The eight-episode drama series is an adaptation based on man on fire and The Perfect Kill of AJ Quinnellthe first two books in Quinnell’s five-book series previously adapted to film in 2004 starring Denzel Washington and in 1987 in an Italian film of the same name. Steven Caple Jr. (Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts, Creed II) will direct episodes 1 and 2 of the series and will also serve as executive producer.
What the Man on Fire series will be about
In the new series, Abdul-Mateen II will play John Creasy, a once highly functional and skilled Special Forces mercenary known for surviving even the most desolate situations. Creasy now suffers from intense post-traumatic stress disorder. Determined to overcome his personal demons, he sets out on a path toward redemption. But before he can adjust to this new life, he finds himself back in the fire, fighting harder than ever.
Kyle Killen (Fear Street) is the writer, executive producer and showrunner. Executive producers are Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Natalie Lehmann of New Regency Productions, which controls the intellectual property rights and financed the 2004 film; Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping and Tracey Cook of Chernin Entertainment; and Killen and Scott Pennington for Chapter Eleven. Caple, Ed McDonnell, Michael Polaire and Abdul-Mateen II will also executive produce alongside Stacy Perskie, who will executive produce RedRum.
Abdul-Mateen II recently reprized the role of Black Manta in the 2023 DC film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom next to Jason Momoa.
